Taylor – Portraits

Here are a few photos from a fashion/lifestyle shoot with Taylor in Old Louisville, all taken in a small park right outside a police station.  My light fired about three times before it went haywire because of all the radio interference coming from the police station (seriously, every frequency was making it pop like a strobe light), so most of this was done with natural light and a reflector.  The two test shots I got before my light crapped out are at the end of the post (which I actually like a lot).  Overall a great shoot and a great model, and part two of shooting with Taylor will likely all be lit shots….just nowhere near a police station.

Whitehouse Residential & Commercial Painting Company

For the past several months, I have had the pleasure to work on a very exciting and challenging project.  Whitehouse Commercial & Residential Painting Company is one of the premier painting companies in Louisville, and have been helping them revamp their portfolio with fresh photos for their website and other promotional materials.  Obviously, the point was to show the quality a painted wall, house or building, so my approach was a bit different than shooting a wedding or portraits, but I really enjoyed the challenge of capturing their great work (including some incredible mural painting that my photos cannot do justice).  Since they have done interior and exterior projects all over the city, this was a true Tour de Louisville, from residential homes in Prospect to landmark buildings in the heart of downtown, to industrial sites in Shively and everywhere in between.  Even though this is one of my longer blog posts, this is just a sampling from the project, for full photo portfolios check out the Whitehouse Commercial & Residential Painting Company website.

Bingham Family Portraits

For this family portrait session, I headed across the river to the mysterious land of New Albany.  We started at their historic home, and then headed downtown.  I really enjoyed this shoot, and we had a great time, laughed a lot and got some great shots.  They were okay with your “not-so-typical” family portraits, so when we found a colorful graffiti wall, we all got pretty excited.  I suggested that they send out their Christmas cards with them in front of the graffiti wall, with the title “HAPPY HOLIDAYZ FROM DA BINGHAMS”.  They said they’d think about it, and I added myself to their mailing list.  Waiting…on…that…card.

Here are some of my favorites from the day:
